Additional private funds for GCPF
Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe (ÄVWL), a private German pension fund serving some 56,000 doctors and their families, has increased its existing investment in the Global Climate Partnership Fund by USD 50 m, bringing their total investment up to USD 80 m.
ÄVWL was the first private investor to join the ranks of public investors including the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, German development bank KfW or the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The new investment brings the fund’s total committed capital to USD 632 m.
According to ÄVWL, this investment further underlines the pension fund’s sustainable investment strategy. Christian Mosel, chief executive officer of ÄVWL, explains: “Our investment doesn’t only contribute to climate change mitigation; it further strengthens the relevance of sustainable investments in our portfolio.“
