Zurich, 25 June 2026 – responsAbility Investments AG has mobilised USD 110 million from Alecta, Sweden’s largest pension fund and one of Europe’s largest occupational pension funds, for a climate investment strategy it manages. The commitment marks a landmark impact investment and Alecta’s third investment with responsAbility, underlining the strength of the long-standing relationship and continued confidence in responsAbility’s platform.
The transaction reflects strong and growing demand from institutional investors for scalable, institutional-quality impact investment strategies. It reinforces responsAbility’s positioning as a specialist investment manager capable of mobilising private sector capital at scale to address the financing needs of the climate transition in global emerging markets.
Strengthening climate finance capabilities and track record
Since 2014, responsAbility has built a strong climate finance track record, with over USD 1.8 billion invested across 47 countries. These investments are expected to deliver lifetime emissions savings of 72.2 million tonnes of CO2.
This track record is supported by a robust impact measurement and reporting framework, including proprietary carbon reporting through the CO2rA tool, with more than 114,000 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects reported to date.
The new capital will be invested in energy efficiency and renewable energy, supporting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in global emerging economies. The strategy also includes climate adaptation, supporting financial institutions in strengthening resilience to climate risks.
This transaction highlights the role of impact investing in mobilising private sector capital towards climate solutions in global emerging markets, within a disciplined, institutional investment framework.
